Do a situation assessment of how things stand now with an eye towards where you would like to be.
At the beginning of the year you should do a situation assessment to determine the state of your business. A SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) can help you to create action steps, reveal limitations, and be a catalyst for improvement and success in any venture. Try using metrics to determine the priority of your professional goals and personal endeavors.
Develop the action steps to implement change and achieve goals.
Great plans for the upcoming year are meaningless ideas unless you develop the action steps to make the changes real. Most of us know that we can’t just “get lucky,” yet some people are lax when it comes to developing the actual methods of carrying out plans. If you’re a well-traveled business owner, you know very well that a good road map is as important to have as knowing where is your end destination.
Understand your human resources.
2016: Your Best Year Ever! But will you do it on your own? I dare say no. Assess your human resources level and staffing requirements to fill all of the necessary positions with as talented employees possible. Outsource where you can so as to be as flexible and as ‘lean & mean’ as possible.
