Your Image Helps to Establish Your Authority
When selling your services to prospects, it is critical to establish yourself as an authority. The more you are perceived as an authority the less the resistance to your offering. Authority is one of the strongest sales motivators
Your image is a key part of establishing authority. You need to look the role you are playing. Your office and business environment must support that image. The person answering your phone must support that image as well. Working from home with a cell phone for an office phone just doesn’t cut it. You will be limiting yourself with this image.
Success is S.I.M.P.L.E.™ by Roger Kahn
We often think about what we have to do to be successful. What is it that makes one person successful and another person not? What do I have to do to be successful? What is the magic formula?
I have given this some thought, and the formula is pretty simple. Its execution may not be that easy, but the formula itself is simple.
Serious – You have to be serious about wanting to be successful. It can’t be something that you focus on one day out of the week. You have to be serious about being successful all of the time.
Improve – You must constantly seek to improve. You must always want to do better and get better. If you keep doing things the same way, at best, you will get the same results. At worst, your competition will surpass you and you will start losing clients.
Master – Remember that you are the master of your own destiny. Your success, and your failure, is in your own hands. Don’t blame others when something doesn’t go your way. Blaze your own trails.
Play – Make sure that you have fun doing what you are doing. It is very hard to be successful when you are not having fun. Make sure that you have some downtime as well. Take time off. Recharge your batteries. Your creative juices will flow when your mind is clear and rested.
Learn – You must always be learning and growing. Keep up-to-date with industry trends and practices, and new technologies. Expand your skill base. Learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others. Model yourself after other successful people and organizations. Be a good observer.
Excellence – Commit yourself to excellence in everything you do. “Good enough” shouldn’t be acceptable. You want to do more than ‘good enough’. Make sure that the buzz about you is positive, that you are a professional, and that everything you do is done with an attention to detail and outcome.
As I said, the formula is S.I.M.P.L.E. Now go execute!

Customer Services is as Easy as the Golden Rule

As a service provider have you ever been in a customer service situation and not known what to do to make your customer happy? Of course you have….we all have, and we have all gone through the internal dialogue of…If I do option A it will cost us this much money, and if I do option B, the client still may not be happy. So, what should you do?
The answer is relatively easy. Always go back to the Golden Rule – treat the client the way you would want to be treated if you were in the same situation! Whenever you are in a customer service situation and not sure what to do to “make it right”, immediately (and I mean immediately!) put yourself in your client’s shoes and ask yourself, “If I was the client, what would it take to make me happy in this situation?” Once you have that answer, take action right away and communicate with your client.
